Joshua Zeman
jz.jpgJoshua Zeman, a native New Yorker, has co-produced five feature films in recent years, most notably, The Station Agent, which won the 2003' Sundance Audience and Screenwriting Award and director Gregg Araki's, Mysterious Skin, which was nominated for a 2006' Spirit Award. Joshua also co-produced The Hawk is Dying, directed by Julian Goldberger (Trans) starring Paul Giamatti, Michael Pitt and Michelle Williams. The Hawk Is Dying premiered in competition at the 2006' Sundance Film Festival and went on to play in Director's Fortnight at Cannes.

Most recently Zeman wrapped Against The Current, starring Joseph Fiennes, Justin Kirk, Elizabeth Reaser, Michelle Trachtenberg and Mary Tyler Moore. The film centers on Paul Thompson, a financial writer who, facing the fifth anniversary of his wife's tragic death, enlists two friends to help him swim the length of the Hudson River. When Paul reveals that he intends to commit suicide at the end of his swim, his friends must do their best to convince him that his life is still worth living. Against the Current is currently in post-production and will have its festival premiere in the Winter of 2008.

In addition, Zeman has also directed his first feature length documentary entitled Cropsey. Along with co-director Barbara Brancaccio, the two filmmakers delve into the mystery surrounding five missing children and the real-life boogeyman linked to their disappearances in their hometown of Staten Island, NY. Joshua has also written numerous screenplays including Fresh Kills which was optioned by Fine Line Films, and Cat Dancer for which he received a MacDowell Fellowship.

In 2005, Joshua Zeman joined Zachary Mortensen at Ghost Robot, an independent production and management company. Together they produced Choking Man, a feature film helmed by acclaimed director Steve Barron, responsible for such seminal music videos as Michael Jackson's Bille Jean and A-Ha's Take on Me. Choking Man premiered in competition at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival and went on to win an IFP Gotham award. Choking Man was theatrically released in the fall of 2007'.

Zeman is currently developing Forest Grove, the first narrative feature by acclaimed director Jonathan Caouette, (Tarnation) and written by Maya Churi. He was also recently named a mentor to the 2008 Independent Feature Project Rough Cut Lab Series and a fellow of this years' inaugural Sundance Insittute Creative Producing Initiaitive.
